Robotics and Engineering Classes/Workshops for 1st - 5th Graders
As part of an Education Initiative at St. Luke’s, We have an eight-week Robotics Workshop for early elementary students. There’s a Maker Movement happening in education brought on by STEM (Science,Technology, Engineering, and Math). Such concrete experiences provide a meaningful context for understanding abstract concepts. Unfortunately, in most schools, the emphasis is on high-stakes standardized testing, teaching to the test, de-professionalizing teachers, and depending on data rather than teacher expertise. It has created classrooms that are increasingly devoid of play, rich materials, and the time to do projects.
